They also recorded the LP "Steppin' Out" in 1988. Here is a little more about these two talented gentlemen:

Andrew Imbrie

Andrew began Scottish Country Dancing in Berkeley in 1977, and started the Princeton (New Jersey) SCD group, which is still active today.

Andrew began studying classical piano at the age of 5; he started playing for SCD around 1984 with the encouragement of Kim McGarrity and Barbara McOwen. The greatest influences in his playing style come from Kim and the renowned Cape Breton pianist Barbara Magone.

Since 1986, he has been playing regularly with John Taylor for dances around the San Francisco Bay Area as well as in Southern California and elsewhere in the US and Canada. They recently participated in Ken McFarland's Northern Lights tour of Scotland, the Orkneys, and Shetland as staff musicians.

Andrew is married to Sherryl Fawx. He works as an aerospace engineer in the field of guidance, control, and computer simulation of flight vehicles.

John Taylor

John was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and grew up in Buckie, a fishing port on the Banffshire coast. He was taught fiddle by the late Kim Murray of Elgin and played alongside well-known local fiddlers such as Hebbie Gray, Ian Mearns, and Willie MacPherson.

In 1979 he moved to California, and a few years later got back into fiddling as a result of his family's involvement with Highland Games. Since then, he has become well-known in the Scottish community in California, and plays regularly in the Bay Area and Southern California, and occasionally further afield, for SCD as well as with the Scottish/Irish pub band Emerald. For the last few years, he has also accompanied Scottish singer Ed Miller any time he has been touring in Northern California. John can be heard on the recordings "Steppin'Out" and "Live!" with Andy Imbrie, and "Ghillies on the Golden Gate" with Fiddlesticks & Ivory. John is a Principal Engineer with KLA Instruments in San Jose, where he designs high-performance image processing systems for semiconductor wafer inspection.
